Q&A
Tell us a little about yourself.
I have a passion for storytelling by way of film and photography. I really enjoy helping people achieve a certain level of success with their brands as well as helping them create content and market their brand. I also love Harry Potter.
Have you always wanted to be an entrepreneur?
I have not always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I did, however, always know I wanted to be the boss. I just didn’t realize it was the boss of myself.
Did you start your business all by yourself in the beginning or did you have a team?
I started my business on my own.
Does your business cater solely to the LGBTQ+ community?
No! We cater to everyone. However, I enjoy working with people who are a part of my community the most.
What made you pursue this business?
Freedom to be creative. Freedom to work on my own terms. The idea of being able to do the things I enjoy for money was more appealing than spending my time doing a job I don’t care for. Life is short; live well.
What are some challenges you have faced while building your brand?
Gosh, there have been so many (laughs). The biggest challenges I’ve faced personally have been learning how to manage money differently during the first few years of business. I have also had challenges with learning how to network and align with people who can help increase business.
Have you faced any obstacles as an LGBTQ+ business owner?
I haven’t faced any so far! As a matter of fact, it’s been refreshing to photograph queer people who didn’t feel comfortable being photographed by straight men.
What has been the greatest accomplishment in your business?
So far, it has been purchasing a car using my own banking information from my business!
If you could have done anything differently while starting or growing your business, what would it be?
If I could have done anything differently, I may have learned more about business in general before pursuing creating a business of my own.
If you could pick the brain of any business mogul, who would it be?
That’s a great question. I would have to say Kris Jenner.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about storytelling and helping people tell their stories too.
What is your why?
My why is because stories need to be told by the people affected the most.
What is something you can’t live without?
The ability to create.
Where do you see your business in the next five years?
In the next five years, I see my production company and my photography company both extremely busy and flourishing. I expect to have six to eight films completed and booked for photography gigs running from small weddings to fashion photography.
What advice would you give to up-and-coming LGBTQ+ business owners?
I would say root your business in love and stay true to who you are.
